My two final collections have explored The Great Outdoors focusing on rock formations and their structures for the brand Stussy and influence from New York Hip-Hop streetstyle and graffiti art for the brand Carhartt.<\/p>\n<div class=\"socialstack\"><span class=\"material-symbols-outlined\">handshake<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/gracekukdesigns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Connect with <span id=\"withme\">Grace Kuk<\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p><!--FILE01--><\/p>\n<div class=\"mediafileviewer mfvimages\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading =\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.schoolofdesignleeds.com\/ds24\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/grace-kuk-01_Grace-Kuk.jpg\" width=\"100%\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1200px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1200\/842;\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"mfv-caption\">My innovation to re-purpose and up-cycle tents has been highlighted in this A\/W25 collection constructing the printed quilted poncho of one of my final outfits from recycled tent materials. Screen printing on top, the vibrant ink colours and embroidery design have complemented my final outfits throughout. Experimentation of drape and structural forms of tents has allowed creativity for the asymmetric dress and this collection playing around with mixing materials and print for the brand Sacai.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--FILE02--><\/p>\n<div class=\"mediafileviewer mfvimages\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading =\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.schoolofdesignleeds.com\/ds24\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/grace-kuk-02_Grace-Kuk.jpg\" width=\"100%\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1200px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1200\/842;\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"mfv-caption\">My first concept idea has been inspired by my interests in the \u2018Great Outdoors\u2019 focusing on rock formations and their structures where I have been inspired to experiment with dry point etching. This process has allowed for more detail and my hand drawn designs when engraving onto the screen and ink pressing to develop these samples and digitally manipulate for print design to use in this collection. The brand Stussy is recognised for their on-trend streetwear style in which this approach has fuelled my experimentation process and my innovative designs for my collection that are practical but still edgy and trendy for my consumer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--FILE03--><\/p>\n<div class=\"mediafileviewer mfvimages\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading =\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.schoolofdesignleeds.com\/ds24\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/grace-kuk-03_Grace-Kuk.jpg\" width=\"100%\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1200px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1200\/842;\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"mfv-caption\">Inspired by the New York Hip-Hop streetstyle aesthetic. Looking at graffiti art, my second concept idea mixes both inspirations together as I design for Carhartt. Exploration of graffiti art has allowed me to play around with fonts and colour for embroidery and denim patchwork sampling, mixing different materials together. The collection is a mix of these fun sample developments and relaxed, trendy Spring\/Summer pieces that would fit for the brand Carhartt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script>\ndocument.getElementById(\"withme\").innerHTML = document.getElementById(\"studentpostname\").innerHTML;\ndocument.addEventListener(\"scroll\", function(){\nvar sitedescription = document.querySelector(\".site-description\");\nvar studenttitle = document.getElementById(\"studentpostname\");\nif(window.pageYOffset > 100){\nsitedescription.classList.add(\"highlightstudentname\");\nsitedescription.innerHTML = studenttitle.innerHTML;\n}\nif(window.pageYOffset < 100){\nsitedescription.classList.remove(\"highlightstudentname\");\nsitedescription.innerHTML = \"School of Design, University of Leeds\";\n}\n});\n\/*Heart a submission*\/\nlet theheart = document.getElementById(\"heartsvg\"); \/\/ assign the SVG class to a variable called theheart\nlet lsheart = localStorage.getItem(\"onheart\"); \/\/ access a key called onheart in LS, and assign it to a variable called lsheart\nlet heartmsg = document.getElementById(\"heartmessage\");\nconst enableheart = () => { \/\/ create a function to colour in the SVG when the SVG is clicked\ntheheart.classList.add(\"activeheart\"); \/\/ tell the function to add a class to the SVG that will add colour\nheartmsg.innerHTML = \"You liked this submission\";\nheartmsg.classList.add(\"addpinkcolor\");\nlocalStorage.setItem(\"onheart\", \"enabled\"); \/\/ activate LS with the key and a value, hereby called enabled\n};\nconst disableheart = () => { \/\/ create a function to remove colour from the SVG when the SVG is clicked\ntheheart.classList.remove(\"activeheart\"); \/\/ tell the function to remove the class from the SVG that added colour\nheartmsg.innerHTML = \"Like this submission\";\nheartmsg.classList.remove(\"addpinkcolor\");\nlocalStorage.setItem(\"onheart\", \"disabled\"); \/\/ activate LS with the same key but a new value, hereby called disabled\n};\nif(lsheart === \"enabled\"){ \/\/ if the LS key has a value of enabled then...\nenableheart(); \/\/ ...run the enableheart function, which adds the class to the SVG\n}\ntheheart.addEventListener(\"click\", function(){ \/\/ when the SVG is clicked...\nlsheart = localStorage.getItem(\"onheart\"); \/\/ ...I think the LS needs to run on itself\nif(lsheart === \"enabled\"){ \/\/ if the LS key has a value of enabled...\ndisableheart(); \/\/ ...run the function that changes the LS value to disabled\n} else { \/\/ otherwise...\nenableheart(); \/\/ ...run the function that changes the LS value to enabled\n}\n});\n<\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Degree Show 2024 Grace Kuk BA Fashion Design Being a passionate individual of fashion who immersed herself creatively I have gained a comprehensive understanding of pattern making, garment construction and illustrated collections at university that are both explore mens and womenswear.
