My aim as a designer is to push the boundaries of trend conforming fashion, raising awareness of different cultures and heritages. Fuelled by my love of outerwear and tailoring, my designs reflect a seamless blend of style and functionality. As a designer, I have always had a strong interest in the exploration of people and cultures around the world. This has provided a source of inspiration for my designs, and I have used this as a tool to push the boundaries of trend conforming fashion, whilst exploring innovative techniques to apply to print and pattern. These techniques include laser engraving, 3D printing, embroidery, and vinyl printing. While I class myself as a \u2018womenswear\u2019 designer, I love to explore multi-functional clothing interchangeable for any gender.<\/p>\n<div class=\"socialstack\"><span class=\"material-symbols-outlined\">handshake<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/milly-kraushaar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Connect with <span id=\"withme\">Milly Kraushaar<\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p><!--FILE01--><\/p>\n<div class=\"mediafileviewer mfvimages\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading =\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.schoolofdesignleeds.com\/ds24\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/milly-kraushaar-01_Amelia-Kraushaar.jpg\" width=\"100%\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1980px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1980\/1980;\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"mfv-caption\">My graduate collection is called Purple Hands, inspired by the people and tribes of Vietnam. Being fortunate to travel to Southeast Asia last summer, I was able to explore sources of inspiration, aligning with my goal of using culture for my final collection. The work collated by the French Photographer, R\u00e9hanh stood out, resonating with the principles that I aim to achieve as a designer. R\u00e9hanh passionately documents the diverse cultures of the 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam, recognising the urgency to capture their heritage before it fades under the pressures of westernisation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--FILE02--><\/p>\n<div class=\"mediafileviewer mfvimages\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading =\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.schoolofdesignleeds.com\/ds24\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Milly-kraushaar-02_Amelia-Kraushaar.png\" width=\"100%\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 2280px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 2280\/1610;\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"mfv-caption\">The final lineup for my collection, Purple Hands. Drawing from the delicate hand-embroidered patterns of Vietnamese tribal costumes as inspiration, I have aimed to design a contemporary collection for my own brand, Mills, whose philosophy aligns with that of slow fashion. While R\u00e9hahn\u2019s work serves as the primary inspiration, this collection also draws on cultural education, shedding light on and celebrating Vietnam\u2019s rich heritage, thereby sustaining its value and importance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--FILE03--><\/p>\n<div class=\"mediafileviewer mfvimages\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading =\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.schoolofdesignleeds.com\/ds24\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/milly-kraushaar-3_Amelia-Kraushaar.png\" width=\"100%\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 2140px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 2140\/1512;\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"mfv-caption\">The Copenhagen fashion house, Ganni, is known for its \u2018Scandinavian style\u2019 where playfulness meets sophistication appealing to all ages, both young and old. This Ganni Fall collection draws on inspiration from my life in London, the city where I completed my placement year. The city\u2019s dynamic nature captivated me, where day or night there was a new place to explore. This collection has taken inspiration from my own memories and images that were taken throughout the year of 2022 and 2023. It has been infused with Ganni\u2019s sense of fun, print, colour, silhouette, texture and sophistication.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script>\ndocument.getElementById(\"withme\").innerHTML = document.getElementById(\"studentpostname\").innerHTML;\ndocument.addEventListener(\"scroll\", function(){\nvar sitedescription = document.querySelector(\".site-description\");\nvar studenttitle = document.getElementById(\"studentpostname\");\nif(window.pageYOffset > 100){\nsitedescription.classList.add(\"highlightstudentname\");\nsitedescription.innerHTML = studenttitle.innerHTML;\n}\nif(window.pageYOffset < 100){\nsitedescription.classList.remove(\"highlightstudentname\");\nsitedescription.innerHTML = \"School of Design, University of Leeds\";\n}\n});\n\/*Heart a submission*\/\nlet theheart = document.getElementById(\"heartsvg\"); \/\/ assign the SVG class to a variable called theheart\nlet lsheart = localStorage.getItem(\"onheart\"); \/\/ access a key called onheart in LS, and assign it to a variable called lsheart\nlet heartmsg = document.getElementById(\"heartmessage\");\nconst enableheart = () => { \/\/ create a function to colour in the SVG when the SVG is clicked\ntheheart.classList.add(\"activeheart\"); \/\/ tell the function to add a class to the SVG that will add colour\nheartmsg.innerHTML = \"You liked this submission\";\nheartmsg.classList.add(\"addpinkcolor\");\nlocalStorage.setItem(\"onheart\", \"enabled\"); \/\/ activate LS with the key and a value, hereby called enabled\n};\nconst disableheart = () => { \/\/ create a function to remove colour from the SVG when the SVG is clicked\ntheheart.classList.remove(\"activeheart\"); \/\/ tell the function to remove the class from the SVG that added colour\nheartmsg.innerHTML = \"Like this submission\";\nheartmsg.classList.remove(\"addpinkcolor\");\nlocalStorage.setItem(\"onheart\", \"disabled\"); \/\/ activate LS with the same key but a new value, hereby called disabled\n};\nif(lsheart === \"enabled\"){ \/\/ if the LS key has a value of enabled then...\nenableheart(); \/\/ ...run the enableheart function, which adds the class to the SVG\n}\ntheheart.addEventListener(\"click\", function(){ \/\/ when the SVG is clicked...\nlsheart = localStorage.getItem(\"onheart\"); \/\/ ...I think the LS needs to run on itself\nif(lsheart === \"enabled\"){ \/\/ if the LS key has a value of enabled...\ndisableheart(); \/\/ ...run the function that changes the LS value to disabled\n} else { \/\/ otherwise...\nenableheart(); \/\/ ...run the function that changes the LS value to enabled\n}\n});\n<\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Degree Show 2024 Milly Kraushaar BA Fashion Design First class design graduate with my final collection being shortlisted for the Zandra Rhodes Textiles Award at GFW24.
