My motivation comes from the realisation that the swimwear industry is constantly beating around sustainability because nylon works so well commercially. Researching and developing early expertise in a niche that desperately needs innovation will prove that, despite the challenges of swimwear property requirements, a more responsible system can be designed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"socialstack\"><span class=\"material-icons md-24\">handshake<\/span><a href=\"#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Connect with <span id=\"withme\"><\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p><!--FILE01 IMG--><\/p>\n<div class=\"mediafileviewer mfvimages\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading =\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.schoolofdesignleeds.com\/ds26\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Emily-Einhorn-SF-01.jpg\" width=\"100%\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1682px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1682\/1188;\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"mfv-caption\"><strong>GOOD BUOY:<\/strong> GOOD BUOY is a sustainable, slow-fashion swimwear company, manifested from the belief that you can look GOOD whilst doing GOOD. Rather than using conventional nylon fabrics, or even recycled ones, GOOD BUOY embraces a new wave of material innovation, partnering with leading bio-nylon innovator Fulgar to guide our swimwear to a sustainable fashion future. Bio-nylon, derived from renewable resources such as castor oil, greatly reduces reliance on virgin fossil-fuels, in turn decoupling our brand from petroleum-based greenhouse gas emissions, whilst maintaining the durability swimwear demands. Partnering with clean dye company Algaeing takes us a step further, replacing toxic chemical dyes with renewable, low-impact alternatives that protect waterways instead of polluting them, and are better for human skin contact. GOOD BUOY isn\u2019t just swimwear, it\u2019s a commitment to do better, and an opportunity to innovate responsibly \u2013 making sustainability feel personal, empowering and achievable.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--FILE02 IMG--><\/p>\n<div class=\"mediafileviewer mfvimages\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading =\"lazy\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.schoolofdesignleeds.com\/ds26\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Emily-Einhorn-SF-02-.jpg\" width=\"100%\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1680px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1680\/945;\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"mfv-caption\"><strong>The Future of Runway:<\/strong> Research points towards innovative digital design techniques that shift material-led production to data- driven, iterative, and dematerialised practices, partnered with augmented reality developments that enable garments to be experienced digitally in real time by audiences. The plausibility of a future phygital runway scenario is grounded in backcasting, realising how the incremental maturity of technologies and interest in emerging Web3 environments naturally point towards an extension of the two, evolving the runway from a linear, observational format into an immersive, interactive ecosystem, where physical and digital layers combine. Subsequently, fashion is revolutionised in how it is created, experienced and valued within an increasingly hybrid world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script>\ndocument.getElementById(\"withme\").innerHTML = document.getElementById(\"studentpostname\").innerHTML;\ndocument.addEventListener(\"scroll\", function(){\nvar sitedescription = document.querySelector(\".site-description\");\nvar studenttitle = document.getElementById(\"studentpostname\");\nif(window.pageYOffset > 100){\nsitedescription.classList.add(\"highlightstudentname\");\nsitedescription.innerHTML = studenttitle.innerHTML;\n}\nif(window.pageYOffset < 100){\nsitedescription.classList.remove(\"highlightstudentname\");\nsitedescription.innerHTML = \"School of Design, University of Leeds\";\n}\n});\n\/*Heart a submission\nlet theheart = document.getElementById(\"heartsvg\"); \/\/ assign the SVG class to a variable called theheart\nlet lsheart = localStorage.getItem(\"onheart\"); \/\/ access a key called onheart in LS, and assign it to a variable called lsheart\nlet heartmsg = document.getElementById(\"heartmessage\");\nconst enableheart = () => { \/\/ create a function to colour in the SVG when the SVG is clicked\ntheheart.classList.add(\"activeheart\"); \/\/ tell the function to add a class to the SVG that will add colour\nheartmsg.innerHTML = \"You liked this submission\";\nheartmsg.classList.add(\"addpinkcolor\");\nlocalStorage.setItem(\"onheart\", \"enabled\"); \/\/ activate LS with the key and a value, hereby called enabled\n};\nconst disableheart = () => { \/\/ create a function to remove colour from the SVG when the SVG is clicked\ntheheart.classList.remove(\"activeheart\"); \/\/ tell the function to remove the class from the SVG that added colour\nheartmsg.innerHTML = \"Like this submission\";\nheartmsg.classList.remove(\"addpinkcolor\");\nlocalStorage.setItem(\"onheart\", \"disabled\"); \/\/ activate LS with the same key but a new value, hereby called disabled\n};\nif(lsheart === \"enabled\"){ \/\/ if the LS key has a value of enabled then...\nenableheart(); \/\/ ...run the enableheart function, which adds the class to the SVG\n}\ntheheart.addEventListener(\"click\", function(){ \/\/ when the SVG is clicked...\nlsheart = localStorage.getItem(\"onheart\"); \/\/ ...I think the LS needs to run on itself\nif(lsheart === \"enabled\"){ \/\/ if the LS key has a value of enabled...\ndisableheart(); \/\/ ...run the function that changes the LS value to disabled\n} else { \/\/ otherwise...\nenableheart(); \/\/ ...run the function that changes the LS value to enabled\n}\n});\n*\/\n<\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Degree Show 2026 Emily Einhorn BA Sustainable Fashion Hi, I\u2019m Emily Einhorn, a final-year BA Sustainable Fashion student.
