Degree Show 2025

Natasha Thomas

BA Graphic and Communication Design

My work throughout university has varied between specialities but as I have come towards the end of my degree, my focus has narrowed to a delicate mix of branding, illustration and packaging design. For a year in industry I also worked as a Junior designer for the circularity focused company Reconomy, operating in a fast paced in-house design team for a variety of waste and resource management brands. This showcase features three of my final year projects that all demonstrate a passion for creative and innovative visual solutions.

This project was made in response to a brief challenging students to create a product from something easily accessible. I designed a drink that sells crying as a product- a quick solution to a surreal world where men, (research shows men suppress their emotions much more) are so emotionally suppressed they need a drink to make them cry.

This project aims to make pigeons loved again through a 32 page children’s book. There are many misunderstandings when it comes to pigeons, so the aim of this book was to educate both children (4-8) and parents in hopes they will treat our feathered friends with kindness. This book primarily does this with fun facts and a likeable main character!

For this project I was tasked with making Hellmann’s ‘The G.O.A.T’ (greatest of all time) again. This was selected from a D&AD competition brief decided to take a comically on-the-nose approach by replicating Hellmann’s labels with a line of illustrated Goat Friends edition mayo. This packaging design project shows how a passion for illustration can merge well with a passion for branding and graphic design.
