BA Fashion Design Innovation
My work explores the relationship between traditional craft and digital innovation. Through illustration, textile development and garment construction, I aim to create clothing with atmosphere, emotion and meaning. I am interested in designing pieces that can be worn by anyone, while still celebrating delicacy, softness and feminine detail. By using processes such as 3D printing, laser engraving and digital surface design, traditional craft is reimagined through a contemporary lens.
For my own brand, ESTELLA, I explored the relationship between coastal folk craft and contemporary digital innovation. The collection reimagines traditional embroidery, ikat, folk motifs and handmade textile references through modern processes including laser engraving and repeat print development. The 3D printing specifically reimagines traditional cross-stitch, translating stitched motifs into raised, contemporary surface details.
The collection is designed through a gender-fluid approach, using relaxed silhouettes, men’s pattern blocks and adaptable styling to create garments that can be worn by anyone. The trousers feature adjustable side closures, allowing the fit to adapt across different body shapes and sizes. Soft layering, oversized proportions and delicate textile details challenge traditional ideas of masculine and feminine clothing.
This page presents my Dior collection, inspired by the contrast between New York glamour and edge. After spending my placement year in New York, I became drawn to the city’s nightlife, architecture and museum culture. These influences informed a collection that aims to balance refined tailoring and luxurious surfaces with the grit of the streets, explored through oversized checks, darker styling, textured appliqué and raw embellishment.
