‘Diem’ is a new SPF brand entering the market, partnering with Cancer Research UK to decrease total UK skin cancer fatalities and boost national understanding of UV exposure. Utilising season-specific visual strategies, Diem intends to reshape UV protection as an everyday essential, rather than a summer-exclusive commodity. The final solution includes external and product packaging, a brand identity and UV-reactive stickers to playfully encourage more consistent reapplication. Mockup credits: Custom Scene. Diem’s style is inspired by the Swiss design movement, enhancing its timeless and gender-neutral qualities, whilst also establishing its fresh feel compared to current examples of SPF packaging. To detach common misconceptions that UV represents the weather, each season’s visual identity is inspired by the nature associated with that season, rather than the temperature (e.g. an abstract yellow daffodil symbolising spring).
