BA Fashion Design Innovation

I enjoyed designing menswear and womenswear collections this year, developing skills in technical drawings, stylised illustrations, weave and knit software, laser cutting, engraving, and pattern cutting. Designing for four different brands allowed me to demonstrate my design versatility across gender categories and varying market levels while communicating creative concepts through visual means.

This collection is inspired by the AI ‘photographer’ Giz Akdag and her incredibly textural and colourful imagery, with AI design being such a new concept I thought it would be interesting to explore the beauty of this technology. These AI creations were used to inspire this playful Autumn/Winter collection for the luxury womenswear brand Marni. I used a mixture of laser engraved leather, textured knit samples and detailed woven print and patterns to produce a fun and contemporary collection.

Inspired by the Mid Devon Countryside this collection for &Other Stories uses soft and natural textiles including filet crochet, lightweight knitwear and hand woven raffia used in prints. This is an elevated countryside collection, pushing the brand image by adding vibrant colours and textures across the range.

This collection was for my own brand MELIAS, a contemporary and luxury menswear brand. I was inspired by mixing traditional and modern mens silhouettes to create an innovative take on mens clothing. The concept inspiration was my pond at home, using the colours and motifs from the pond to create a calming feel to the collection. The final physical outcome consisted of a cotton and wool panelled shirt with wool jeans, a bomber jacket mixed with a suit jacket and pleated suit trousers mixed with joggers.
