Sylvie Keen
BA Sustainable Fashion
Hi, I am Sylvie Keen, a final year BA Sustainable Fashion (Industrial) student. My work this year has primarily focused on the retail side of the fashion industry and how collaboration and innovative technologies, such as AI, have the potential to drive sustainability across the industry. I have also researched synthetic alternatives and biodegradable technology to propose an ideal sustainable product. Post-university, I am going into a role in wholesale sales at a major luxury fashion company, where I will utilize my knowledge of AI for forecasting and data analysis.
The Sustainable Rash Vest offers a sustainable, circular, non-toxic solution to the fashion industry’s microplastic problem. Using Tera Mira as an elastane alternative, ECONYL® with CiCLO® addition, that allows recycled nylon behave like a natural fibre, and Algaeing™ products for colouration, the Sustainable Rash Vest is made from the sea (seaweeds, fishing nets and algae), worn and used in the marine environments (eg sailing, surfing and caving) and then may be returned back to the ocean, displaying at least 90% full degradation in biologically active environments such as seawater.
‘Trace & Place’ is a digital B2B wholesale platform with a focus on sustainability. It is a service that provides a solution to current fashion industry sustainability challenges: greenwashing, disruption and cost pressures of supply chains, consumers becoming increasingly value-conscious and the rise of digitisation and artificial intelligence (AI). Through collaboration and AI technology, ‘Trace & Place’ empowers micro, small and medium sustainable fashion brands (MSMEs), educates retailers on sustainability and provides verified product traceability data and third-party sustainability certification to safeguard against greenwashing. Within the next 3-5 years, ‘Trace & Place’ will transform sustainability within the wholesale fashion ecosystem.
